Conception of the project

In the design of Web page "Chaos of Fractals" my primary aim is to demonstrate the aesthetic beauty of fractals and possibility to use fractals in the contemporary art including graphic design. I am not going to explain algorithms and formulas of the fractal geometry but to initiate people to pay much more attention to the immeasurable beauty of fractal forms in nature and fractal like chaos and order of the Universe, which is the basis of our life and our body. I offer a little travel through the fractal world including picturesque examples of nature, human body, mathematical forms and artworks. My Web page includes rather different interactive shows: flash movies, picture's galleries, video and texts.

Shortly about the Fractals

Fractals are forms and regularities in which nature manifests its beauty, irrationality and determined chaos. Fractals are highly complex dynamical systems which exist in the Universe, nature, environment, geographical lines of the continents, clouds, flowers, human body, and human brain processes. Such systems are always on the move, changing and never precisely recycling to their initial states. In 1975 scientist B.Mandelbot used the word "fractal" (latin. fractus - to refract, to brake, to create irregular broken fragments) to name his new geometrical theory - fractal geometry. Fractals mean fragmented and irregular entities, they appear as chaotic dynamical systems with the principle of autosimilarity. Order and chaos, peculiar to fractals, reflect the relationship of the whole and the significance of each individual part. Fractal geometry can unite mathematical principles and art creativity. It is very characteristic that the first image of nonlinear equatation was created by collaboration between an graphic designer J.Bacon and scientist G.Mayer-Kress. Theory of fractals is close to modern aesthetics and offers possibility to create unusual artworks.
